Gessendorf is a district of the Neuhaus-Schierschnitz part of the municipality of Föritztal in the Sonneberg district in Thuringia .

Gessendorf is a street settlement in the northeastern part of Neuhaus-Schierschnitz with a connection to the federal road 89 .
history
The then Waldhufendorf was first mentioned in 1340 in Schultes, Coburg Urkundenbuch LXV p. 50 . In 1923 the village was merged with the neighboring towns of Buch , Mark , Neuhaus and Schierschnitz to form the Neuhaus-Schierschnitz community. This community was merged with the communities of Föritz and Judenbach to form the new community of Föritztal on July 6, 2018 .
