Schierschnitz is a district of the Neuhaus-Schierschnitz district of the Föritztal community in the Sonneberg district in Thuringia .

location

Schierschnitz is located on the east side of the Föritz valley in the southernmost tip of the state of Thuringia . It has a connection to the federal highway 89 . The docked foothills merge into the Thuringian Slate Mountains to the north .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1252. After the community, Schierschnitz was first mentioned in a document as "Schirsnitz" in 1340/47. In 1923 the village was merged with the neighboring towns of Buch , Gessendorf , Mark and Neuhaus to form the Neuhaus-Schierschnitz community. This opened on July 6, 2018 in the municipality of Föritztal.
