history
Sichelreuth was created in the 12./13. Century from a clearing settlement on a low terrace on the Föritz. It was first mentioned around 1275 as "Sygelngeruthe". For centuries, the western half of the village belonged to the parish of Mupperg , the eastern half to the parish of Schierschnitz . In 1735 the place came from Sachsen-Coburg to Sachsen-Meiningen . In 1811 a school was built in the village.
After the places Sichelreuth and Lindenberg had formed a community association for a short time in 1923/24, Lindenberg was incorporated into Sichelreuth on July 1, 1950. On July 14, 1993 the incorporation to Neuhaus-Schierschnitz took place . On July 6, 2018, this merged with two other communities to form the community of Föritztal. Despite many new buildings, the place is still agricultural today.
