Mogger is a part of the municipality Föritztal in the district of Sonneberg in Thuringia .

location

Mogger lies with its district in the southern tip of the Oberlinder plain directly on the state border with Bavaria . In terms of traffic, the village is covered by district road 27.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document on July 4, 1225. The community goes from 1317 with the first mention as "Mocher", after the Slavic word Mokra = wet or damp . There used to be two estates and the village was subordinate to several authorities over the years. Craftsmen, basket weavers and farmers subsisted on the plaice and in the village. On July 1, 1950, the village was incorporated into Mupperg and became part of Föritz in 1994 . On July 6, 2018, Föritz merged with other municipalities to form the new Föritztal municipality.
