Hans-Peter Schmitz (politician, 1958)
Hans-Peter Schmitz (born May 11, 1958 in Bitburg ) is a German politician (non-party). He's since 2018 District Administrator of the district Sonneberg . Before that, he was a full-time assistant to his predecessor Christine Zitzmann from 2006 to 2018 .
Life
education and profession
Hans-Peter Schmitz is a trained administrator . In 1976 he began a civil service career in the Bitburg district administration. After the fall of the Wall , he came to the partner district of Sonneberg in 1991 as part of administrative assistance, in which he became the department head for health, youth and social administration in the district office from 1992.
politics
In 2006 and 2012, Hans-Peter Schmitz was elected full-time alderman by the Sonneberg district council and thus deputy district administrator of the Sonneberg district.
In the local elections in Thuringia 2018 , the previous District Administrator Christine Zitzmann did not run again. Schmitz decided to run for the post of district administrator with the support of Die Linke and SPD in order to offer voters an alternative to the candidates from the CDU and AfD .
On April 29, 2018, he was elected district administrator in the runoff election with 56.2% of the valid votes.
Hobbies and private matters
Hans-Peter Schmitz was a committed soccer player and coach for a long time. Some of his stations were FC Sonneberg 04 , SV Isolator Neuhaus-Schierschnitz and TSV Germania 1884 Sonneberg-West. In addition to football, his hobbies are also skat .
