Onno Eckert

Onno Eckert (* 1985 in Duisburg , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and, since 2018 District Administrator of the district Gotha .

Life

education and profession

Eckert was born in 1985 in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1996 his family moved to Crawinkel in Thuringia . Eckert attended the Gymnasium Gleichense in neighboring Ohrdruf , where he graduated from high school in 2003 . After doing his community service , he studied law at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg from 2004 . In 2010 he passed the first state examination in law. His focus was on "State and Administration". Eckert then completed a legal clerkship in Thuringia and passed the second state examination in 2014. From 2015 he worked as the President's personal advisor at the Thuringian State Administration Office .

In 2017 he became the father of a son.

Political career

Eckert was a member of Crawinkel's municipal council from 2009 to 2010. On June 6, 2010 he was elected mayor of the municipality with 81.1%. On July 31, 2013, he resigned from this position for professional reasons. Heinz Bley ( CDU ) was elected to the next mayor . From 2014 Eckert was again a member of Crawinkel's municipal council.

On April 15, 2018, he ran for the district election in the Gotha district. With 37.8%, he received the majority of the votes cast, but missed the required majority, so that a run-off election on April 29 was necessary. This time he received 67.0% of the votes cast. He took office on July 1, 2018. At the same time, he resigned from the Crawinkel municipal council.
