The Thuringian State Administration Office is the central agency of the Free State of Thuringia . It was on July 20, 1991 established .

tasks

The state administration office is within the three-tier administrative structure in Thuringia as the upper state authority, the link between the municipal lower authorities (districts, independent cities) of Thuringia and the Thuringian state government as the highest authority. Since Thuringia is not divided into administrative districts, it is responsible for the entire state area.

As an enforcement, supervisory and objection authority, its tasks extend across all departments of the Thuringian ministries. The state administration office is the service and technical supervisory authority of the municipal authorities. In particular, the legal supervisory authority of the districts and cities in the Free State of Thuringia.

The Environment Department of the TLVwA was spun off from it on January 1, 2019 and merged with the Thuringian State Institute for Environment and Geology (TLUG) and the Thuringian State Mining Office to form the Thuringian State Office for Environment, Mining and Nature Conservation (TLUBN).

The authority has its headquarters in Weimar in the former Gauforum on Jorge-Semprún -Platz. There are also offices in Suhl (Department VI and initial reception facility ), Meiningen (Department VII), Gera and Sondershausen . The buildings in Weimar were completely renovated between 2003 and 2012.

President

The heads of the authority have the title of president ; this official title was determined by an order of the Prime Minister Josef Duchač (CDU) on January 29, 1992.
