Katja Wolf
Katja Wolf (born March 7, 1976 in Erfurt ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). She was a member of the Thuringian State Parliament from 1999 to 2012 and has been Lord Mayor of the independent city of Eisenach in Thuringia since July 1, 2012 .
Career
After graduating from the Heinrich-Hertz-Gymnasium in Erfurt in 1994, Wolf studied social education / social work at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt , which she graduated with a diploma in 1999. From January to August 1999 she worked as a research assistant for the Thuringian Parliament. In the 1999 state elections , she herself entered the state parliament, where she became chairwoman of the equal opportunities committee. Since 2004 she has been a member of the city council in Eisenach .
In the state election in Thuringia on August 30, 2009 , she succeeded in gaining the direct mandate in the constituency of Wartburg District II - Eisenach .
In the municipal election 2012 candidate Wolf in Eisenach for the office of mayor and was elected in the runoff on May 6, 2012 with 51.6% of the vote for mayor of the city. On June 15, 2015, from the excited NPD is mounted on the city council deselection motion against Wolf also nationwide stir when voted by secret ballot 16 of 34 city councilors for the request, although the NPD has only three seats.
Six years later, Wolf was able to defend her position in the 2018 local elections after winning the runoff election on April 29, 2018 against competitor Michael Klostermann ( SPD ) with 58.0% of the vote.
When signing the new city council members after the 2014 local elections , Wolf refused the NPD mandate holders the handshake that Thuringia city councils normally use to sign up. The NPD parliamentary group leader complained against it. The Thuringian Higher Administrative Court ruled at the beginning of May 2019 that Wolf's behavior was unlawful, since, according to Section 24 (2) of the Thuringian Local Authority, the mayor "has to oblige the elected councilors to conscientiously fulfill their obligations by shaking hands". Wolf has appealed. The case is before the Federal Administrative Court. After the local elections in 2019 , Wolf again did not shake hands with the elected NPD city councilors.
At the general assembly of the German Association of Cities in Dortmund on June 6, 2019, Wolf was elected deputy president of the umbrella association.
Wolf is non-denominational , married and has two children.
