Joachim Klapczynski (born September 15, 1929 in Freital ; † September 10, 2006 in Sanne ) was a German functionary of the GDR bloc party LDPD and from 1974 to 1990 mayor of Eisenach .

Career

The trained farmer Klapczynski was a student from 1951 to 1953 and a teacher at the Eisenach technical college for agriculture from 1953 to 1964.

After a short tenure as head of an Eisenach LPG , he moved to the Agricultural School in Weimar in 1966. From 1968 to 1974 he worked first as a production manager, then as secretary of the Council for Agriculture and Food Management in the Eisenach district .

In 1974 he succeeded Sigfried Möckel as mayor of the city of Eisenach. He held this office until the local elections in 1990, when he did not run because of the political changes in the GDR and went into retirement.

Since 1964 Klapczynski belonged to the LDPD , was chairman of the LDPD city council Eisenach and a member of the central executive committee of the LDPD. He was married and had a son.

During the implementation of the 15th GDR Workers' Festival , which took place from June 6th to 9th, 1974 in the Erfurt district , he was primarily responsible for the events in the city and district of Eisenach . The preservation of the traditions of the summer win as well as the establishment and development of the town twinning between Eisenach and Marburg are among Klapczynski's successes. During his term originated in Eisenach, as required by the SED -Wohnungsbauprogramms, many new residential areas in bricks ; At the same time, a massive demolition of historical buildings in the northern and western old town was necessary, for the preservation of which the political will and financial means were lacking. In terms of local politics, Eisenach was further upgraded as an automobile manufacturing location, but the Erfurt district management was also interested in a balance with the neighboring district of Gotha and prevented many of the Eisenach city administration's projects.
