Werner Fischer (politician, 1902)

Werner Fischer (born March 7, 1902 in Eisenach ; † November 22, 1976 in Mannheim ) was a German local politician of the LDPD and from 1946 to 1953 mayor of the city of Eisenach in Thuringia .

Life

Werner Fischer grew up in Eisenach. After completing his commercial training, he held a managerial position at the Bruns cigar factory in Eisenach. In the bombing raid on Eisenach on September 11, 1944, he lost his wife and three of his four children. In 1945 he was one of the founders of the LDPD in Eisenach.

On October 4, 1946, Fischer was elected mayor of his native town as the successor to Karl Hermann . His term of office was marked by the privations of the post-war period under Soviet occupation; The focus of his work was the reconstruction of the city after the Second World War . On October 30, 1953, Fischer announced his resignation.

In 1954 he moved to Heidelberg, where he was again part of the management of the Bruns company. Fischer died on November 22, 1976 at the age of 74 in Mannheim and was buried in Eisenach.
