The accident wreck

Jeff Andretti (born April 14, 1964 in Bethlehem ) is a former American racing driver .

Career

Jeff Andretti is the youngest son of USAC champion and Formula 1 world champion Mario Andretti , as well as the brother of Michael Andretti . His nephew Marco , his uncle Aldo and his two cousins Adam and John are also closely associated with US motorsport.

Jeff quickly got into the CART series through various junior series and made his debut at the Indianapolis 500 mile race in 1991 , which he finished 15th. Only a year later he had a serious accident on his second appearance in Indianapolis. Just after halfway through the race, he lost a wheel before Turn 2 and hit the wall hard. He broke both legs in the accident and a hopeful career was over before it began. He made a comeback in 1993 and drove the 500-mile race again, but the accident had left its mark.

Attempts to gain a foothold in the Indy Light Series in 1995 and in the North American Supertouring Car Championship in 1996 failed. In 1999 he finally ended his career after a few races in the Camping World Truck Series .
