Adam Andretti (born March 24, 1979 in Brownsburg ) is a former American racing driver .

When Adam Andretti was born in 1979, he was born into a well-known American racing family. Adam is the younger brother of John Andretti . His father Aldo was already a racing driver and his twin brother Mario became one of the most successful drivers in international motorsport. His two cousins Jeff and Michael also took up the profession of racing pilot. He is also the great-uncle of Marco Andretti , who is already the third generation to continue the tradition of top drivers in the Andretti family.

Since Adam is 16 years younger than his brother John, he was already a successful driver when Adam made his first attempts at racing in a kart in 1994 at the age of 15 . In 1998 he finished second overall in the Formula C World Championship. That same year he also made his sports car debut when he competed in the Daytona 24 Hours .

In 2000 he drove a season in the US Formula 3 championship , which was only driven out for a short time. He won a race and was third in the championship. After two years in the NASCAR featherlite Southwest series, he started racing in sports cars in 2004. He also became a racing instructor at the Richard Petty Racing School. In 2007 he made his debut in the Indy Pro Series and alternated the season with teammate Jimmy Kite . At the end of 2008 he ended his racing career.

In 2014 he made a comeback as a racing driver and competed regularly in the US Trans-Am series .
