Theo Gundermann

Theo Gundermann (born April 25, 1904 in Sonneberg ; † February 1974 ) was a German local politician ( SPD / SED ) and party functionary (SED).

Life

Gundermann attended elementary school and then learned the trade of warehouse clerk . In 1922 he joined the Socialist Workers 'Youth (SAJ), was active in the German Factory Workers' Association (DFAV) in 1923 and joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). He also became a member of the Freethinkers Association . He worked on the district board of the SPD von Sonneberg. At the end of the 1920s, Gundermann was district administrator for the Sonneberg district.

After the beginning of the Nazi regime , he continued to work illegally in the anti-fascist circle of “ Neu Beginnen ”. From 1935 to 1938 he was by the Nazi authorities detained .

In May 1945, Gundermann took the initiative to re-establish the SPD in Sonneberg, although it was difficult for him to prevail against a strong current in favor of a unity party. In 1946 he became deputy and from 1948 district administrator of the Sonneberg district. At the same time he was a member of the state board of the Thuringian SED. From 1950 to 1952 Gundermann was the district councilor of Hermsdorf . After the districts were formed in the GDR , he became secretary of the Erfurt district council in August 1952 . He later served as the first secretary of the SED district leadership and chairman of the SED County Party Control Commission (KPKK) of Mulhouse . Most recently he lived as a veteran in his hometown of Sonneberg. Gundermann died at the age of 69.
