Basket market
The Korbmarkt is a market and festival event that takes place annually around the third Sunday in September in Lichtenfels (Upper Franconia) in northern Bavaria . The city of Lichtenfels wants to strengthen its role as the center of the basket weaving industry as well as its tourist attraction. Manufacturers and dealers of basket weaving products from home and abroad use the event as an industry showcase and sales opportunity for their products.
The first basket market took place in October 1980; since then, the basket markets have always been held on the third weekend in September. The market is supported by the federal guild for the weaving trade and carried out by the advertising association Stadtmarketing Lichtenfels and the city of Lichtenfels.
