The Corps of Young Pioneers ( Korean 조선 소년단 , 朝鮮 少年 團 , revised Romanization Joseon Sonyeondan ) is a youth organization in North Korea and, like almost all mass organizations in the country, subordinates to the Labor Party (PdAK) . The association was founded on June 6, 1946 . Membership is possible from the age of 9 and lasts until the age of 15, after which one becomes a member of the national youth association (Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist youth association) . The organization is mainly active in elementary and middle schools . One of the most important tasks is communist indoctrination , i. H. an education in the interests of the party.

Absolute obedience to commands and directions is expected from children.

Events

Students with special achievements are allowed to take part in a youth camp every year , which takes place between April and October for 3–12 days.
