The Cossack Mamaj Monument ( Ukrainian Пам'ятник “Козак Мамай” ) is a bronze sculpture on the Majdan Nesaleschnosti in the center of the Ukrainian capital Kiev .

description

The monument depicts the Nationalallegorie Ukraine, the Cossack Mamaj , an idealized representation of a Cossack ,. It shows a Kobsa playing Cossack with his horse, a banner on the flagpole, and besides, lying on the bronze pedestal, sabers and powder horn .

history

The monument, opened on October 14, 2001 in front of the National Music Academy of Ukraine , was made by the sculptors Walentyn Snoba ( Валентин Зноба ) and his son Nykolai Snoba ( Николай Зноба ).
