The Kotzenbergsche Hof is a listed Weser Renaissance building in the Horn district of Horn-Bad Meinberg in the Lippe district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The farm goes back to Horn's bailiff Johann Hermann Kotzenberg, who had the building built in 1616. The two-storey building consisted of two angled wings measuring 31.2 × 11.8 m (north wing) and 25.2 × 10.25 m (west wing, facing the market square).

Under Adam Heinrich von Kotzenberg (the family was in 1674 ennobled ) was 1679-1681, the first conversion in the form of two Baroque portals and a fireplace, also a brewery and distillery were established.

Later the ownership changed several times until the building was acquired by the Vialon family in 1880 and converted into a hotel - originally "Teutoburger Hof", later "Vialon". After 126 years in family ownership, the hotel had to close at the end of 2006 and is now again in the family ownership of Kotzenberg. Ronald Kotzenberg had the eastern annex from 1920 and the garages torn down and plans to renovate the courtyard and make it usable again as a hotel.
