Koundara is the capital of the prefecture of the same name in northern Guinea at the intersection of the national roads N5 and N9. In the center there is a market and a mosque as well as a bus station. There is a customs post on the road to Senegal , Koundara is the last major place before the entrance to the Guinean side of the Niokolo Koba National Park . Koundara is considered to be the hottest place in Guinea.
