The Král Šumavy ( Czech for King of Šumava , also known as Author Král Šumavy ) is one of the oldest mountain bike marathons in Europe. The main sponsor is the Czech bicycle manufacturer Author .

The event has been held annually at the end of May since 1993 and attracts around 2500 participants. There are now three different competition distances with different levels of fitness and technical requirements. The routes lead through the Šumava Biosphere Reserve . The start and finish is in Klatovy in the Pilsen region on the edge of the Bohemian Forest .

In addition to the Král Šumavy MTB mountain bike race, there is an event for racing cyclists called Král Šumavy ROAD .
