Kræmmerholmen

Kræmmerholmen is an old trading post on Fedje Island . It is located in the municipality of the same name in the Vestland district in Norway . The main building of the trading post was moved to this place in 1652.

history

Fedje was an important trading post during the 18th century, with Kræmmerholmen being the place where trade ultimately took place. In 1702, citizens of the Norwegian city of Bergen were given permission to set up a trading post for traders near the coast. The trade was controlled by a suitable foreman of a merchant. Christopher Kahrs, one of the richest merchants of Bergen at the time, finally bought Kræmmerholmen in 1799. In addition to the actual trading post, he also owned the entire island of Fedje, including tenants and all residential buildings.

today

Kræmmerholmen reopened in 1991 as a tourist attraction with an inn with overnight accommodation. However, the facility was closed in September 2008.

Today Kræmmerholmen consists of an old building that used to be a restaurant and the old boathouse (Naustet), which used to be the local pub.
