In the history of art , crab is a technical term for leaves carved out of stone, bent in wrinkles, which were created as decorative elements on buildings , starting with simple works in the early Gothic to finely worked ornaments in the late Gothic. It is also known as the creeper . Mostly they are on the slopes of eyelashes , pinnacles or spire helmets , where it appears that they are crawling up them.
