The Mae Moh power plant is a coal-fired plant in the district of Mae Mo , Province Lampang , Thailand .
With an installed capacity of 2,400 MW , Mae Moh is one of the most powerful power plants in Thailand (as of May 2020). Construction of the power plant began in 1972. The first unit went into operation in 1978. The power plant is owned by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and is also operated by EGAT.

In March 2015, the Alstom company received an order from EGAT to build a unit with a capacity of 600 MW, which is to replace units 4 to 7; the new block is scheduled to go into operation in 2018. The order has a total value of € 950 million.
Others
The power plant requires around 16 million tons of lignite a year , which is delivered from a nearby lignite field.
