Kranaos (ancient Greek Κραναός) was the third mythical king of Attica . After him, the Athenians were called Kranaer in the Pelasgian era . During his reign the legendary Deucalionic Flood took place.

Since the only son of Kekrops died during his lifetime, Kranaos, the most powerful man of Attica, became his successor after his death. His wife was Pedias , the daughter of the Lacedaemonian Mynes . They had three daughters: Kranae, Kranaichme and Atthis . The country was up to that time after his first King Aktaios Aktaia called, now his name was in honor of the daughter atthis in Attica changed.

Kranaos was expelled from Attica by Amphiktyon , although he was his son-in-law. He fled to Lamptrai, where Pausanias could still see his tomb.
