The Landesklinikum Scheibbs is a hospital in Scheibbs and is run by the Niederösterreichische Landeskliniken-Holding . It is located at Eisenwurzenstraße 26.

history

The forerunners of the hospital were the Upper and Lower Spital (built in 1539 and before 1539), both of which were outside the city walls. The Obere Spital became a citizen's hospital in 1833 , which was built with the support of Andreas Töpper . The Lower Hospital no longer exists and stood where the photographer Mark's house is today.

The hospital was made possible through the initiative of Bertha Kupelwieser, born Wittgenstein and the wife of Karl Kupelwieser . In 1907, the council requested the construction of a hospital and in 1911 it came to the opening with 47 beds, the building was the home style , designed by Hans Schimitzek built, architecturally related to the Empress Elisabeth Hospital in Bad Ischl . From 1927 to 1929 the hospital was expanded to 95 beds.

The next expansion took place in 1961 with the opening of the internal department. The treatment wing was built from 1971 to 1976 and in 1977 the gynecology and obstetrics department went into operation.

In 1989 the hospital was expanded with a new bed wing and in 1990 the new cardiac monitoring station, the postoperative monitoring station, the new entrance hall, the new physical therapy and the new endoscopy were opened. A computer tomography system was added in 1997. In 2000, another bed wing was built, which now has around 200 beds.

In 2003 the Berta-Kupelwieser-Trakt was renovated and in 2004 the new endoscopy was opened. On January 1st, 2006, the hospital, like others, was handed over to the state of Lower Austria by the municipality of Scheibbs. In 2007 a helipad and an employee parking deck were opened.
