School life

Language sequence and choice of profile

Like many grammar schools in Baden-Württemberg, students at KGH have the choice between a scientific or a linguistic path. Specifically, this means that in the seventh grade you choose the natural science and technology (NWT), Spanish or Latin course, which is taught from the 8th grade.

English is taught as the first foreign language from the 5th grade and French as a second foreign language from the 6th grade.

In addition, since the 2002/2003 school year, students have had the opportunity to choose a cheap train in the 6th grade. In grades 7 and 8, the subject group geography-economics-community studies is taught cheaply, supplemented by history in grades 8 and 9. In grades 9 and 10, biology is taught in two languages and again the subject geography-economics-community studies in grade 10. In the course level, English can then be chosen as an advanced course and biology in a cheaper version, which leads to the international Abitur Baden-Württemberg. With the exception of the course level, the cheap train can be ended early after each school year.
