Card wolf
The card wolf (also called picker ) is a machine used in wool processing , processing wool with the card wolf is called wolfen .
The core of the card grinder are one or two large (up to 1 m diameter) hook rollers. The untreated, disordered (virgin) wool is fed to the rollers on a wide table, taken from the hooks and runs around the top of the roller. On the other hand, the fleece is removed from smaller hook rollers and fed to further processing.
Wolfen serves several purposes:
- Removal of impurities
- Tearing apart large blocks of fiber into smaller flakes
- Rough alignment of the fibers
- Opening the fibers
- Preparatory stage for carding (combing) the wool
