Chamber symphony

A chamber symphony is a musical work with the status of a symphony , which, however, was not composed for a symphony orchestra , but for a chamber music ensemble or chamber orchestra .

The genus appeared at the beginning of the 20th century. Chamber symphonies were u. a. composed by Waldemar von Baußnern , Paul Juon , Franz Schreker , Nikolai Roslawez , Max Butting , Hanns Eisler , Isang Yun , Mieczyslaw Weinberg , Fritz Geißler . The two works by Arnold Schönberg achieved particular fame :
