Cross for distinction in Gerona

The Cross for Distinction in Gerona was donated in the name of King Joseph I of Spain by government decision on September 14, 1810. The award was intended to honor the defenders of Gerona in 1809.

Order decoration

The order decoration was an eight-pointed red cross with spherical tips. The balls were in gold. Between the arms of the cross was a golden tower. In the middle of the cross a white sign that showed St. Francis. The motto "La patria al valor y constancia" above it, meaning "the fatherland of bravery and perseverance", was adorned by a laurel wreath above it.

The ribbon was red.
