Kreuzfidel

Kreuzfidel is a polka française by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 301). The work was first performed on September 5, 1865 in Pavlovsk , Russia.

Remarks

The Polka was written in the summer of 1865 during Johann Strauss' recent trip to Russia, which was overshadowed by the composer's health problems that year. Regardless of this, he wrote this happy (kreuzfidel = happy or funny) polka. The work was first performed in Vienna on November 19, 1865 at a joint concert by all three Strauss brothers in the Volksgarten .
