Kreuzgrund (Triebenbach)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kreuzgrund , also known as Kreuzig , is an approximately three-kilometer-long Muldental valley south of Ruppersdorf in Upper Lusatia . It descends from a height of 330 meters above sea level on the outskirts of Ninive in an easterly direction to a height of 280 meters above sea level on the Triebenbach . The deeply incised lower valley slope drops only gently on the northern side, but much steeper on the southern side. It is assumed that these landforms emerged in the Young Pleistocene in the course of the Neisse breakthrough.

In the past, a small stream flowed through the valley, but from the middle of the 20th century it carried less and less water. Today it is almost completely dry, there are only a few rivulets left.
