The Kreuzkirche in Upper Silesia (Głogówek) is a Roman Catholic half-timbered cemetery church from the 18th century. It is located on a hill near the old town of Oberglogau and has a bell in a roof turret. She belongs to the parish of St. Bartholomew in Oberglogau.

history

The Kreuzkirche was built in 1705 and donated by the Oberglogau widow Anna Pietruschka from Hinterdorf. Inside it was decorated with wooden figures from the 17th and 18th centuries. Including depictions of the crucified Jesus Christ, Mary and St. John. There is also a Michelangelo-style Pietà in the church. On the outer facade, protected under a canopy, wooden panels with representations of the stations of the cross by Heinz Schiestl were attached.

In 1934 the burial church was decorated with wall paintings by the artist Hans Breinlinger, who created the four works in 30 days. They show the Ascension of Christ, the Last Judgment, St. George and St. Sebastian. In 1951 a new bell was cast for the roof turret. It is dedicated to St. Francis.
