Antonio Angeleri
Antonio Angeleri (occasionally also written Angelèri ) (born December 25, 1801 in Pieve del Cairo , † February 8, 1880 in Milan ) was an Italian pianist and music teacher .
Angeleri was a student of Francesco Pollini . From 1826 to 1871 he was professor of piano at the Milan Conservatory . Here he taught a. a. the pianists and composers Guglielmo and Carlo Andreoli , Adolfo and Disma Fumagalli , Amilcare Ponchielli , Giovanni Gaetano Rossi , the later Wagner conductor Vittorio Maria Vanzo , Francesco Anzoletti , Vincenzo Appiani , Vincenzo Petrali and the composer Carl Ferrari . With Carlo Andreoli he published the textbook Il pianoforte , which has been translated into several languages. He is the addressee of 7 toccatas by Stefano Golinelli . In 1832 he played a key role in Giuseppe Verdi's rejection when he applied as a student at the Conservatory: his hands were unsuitable and there was no possibility of correction.
