Cross Boy Scout

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A cross scout is an adult, evangelical Christian scout who wants to apply the behavior learned from the scouts in church , politics , state and society .

origin

The origins lie in the (historical) Christian Scouting Association of Germany (CPD), in which the Cross Scouts were the so-called fourth “status” (after young scouts, squires and scouts), i.e. an age and experience level. Admission to the Cross Scout was a prerequisite for taking on leadership roles from the tribal level up.

During the time of National Socialism in 1934 the groups of under 18-year-olds were transferred to the Hitler Youth . The CPD was able to continue working until it was banned by the Gestapo in 1937, reduced to around 2,000 scouts over the age of 18. After that, some of the cross scouts kept in contact with each other. After 1945 they played a key role in the reorganization of the CPD.

In the Protestant Association of Christian Scouts and Scouts , the Cross Scouts are a form of adult work. Today's Christian Scouting Association in Germany also refers to the historical CPD in the integration of the Cross Scouting Society.

Cross scouts work largely across the board, which means that it does not matter which association or federal government the participants in events come from.

organization

Cross-scout rounds, consisting of two to 30 people, are held all over Germany . The so-called service community of the cross scouts is the common forum for the rounds. Many Cross Scouts meet at a different place every Easter for an Easter meeting.

Cross Scout Promise

All Cross Scouts have made the following (or a similar) promise :

“I know the principles of Christian Scouting and want to live according to them, trusting in the power and help of God. I want to wear the scout cross as a sign of solidarity with my brothers and sisters, as a reminder to faithful Christian conduct, as a confession to my Lord Jesus Christ. "

Controversy over the Kreuzwacht magazine

The journal Kreuzwacht , whose subtitle describes itself as “The journal for cross scouts”, is considered controversial among cross scouts and Christian scout associations because of its conservative content. With the Christian Scouting Association of Germany on September 22nd, 2003 and the service group of the Cross Scouts on April 16, 2005, two essential supporters of the Cross Scouting work have distanced themselves from the Cross Watch. On July 7, 2005, the Association of Christian Boy Scouts and Boy Scouts articulated its critical position towards the Cross Watch. The Fritz-Riebold-Gesellschaft, the publisher of the Kreuzwacht, has rejected the allegations of the service community as an unfounded allegation to defame the Kreuzwacht. The delimitation from the Fritz-Riebold-Gesellschaft decided by the service group of the Cross Scouts in the above context was partially withdrawn on December 3, 2005, that is, it invites its members to participate in the Easter meetings again.

Decision of the service group of the cross scouts on June 7, 2013: The service group of the cross scouts decides on the basis of a positive development between the Fritz-Riebold-Gesellschaft e. V. and the service community of the cross scouts to repeal the delimitation resolution of April 2005 with immediate effect and without restriction.

The service community of the cross scouts (DG) publishes the cross bearing four times a year . It describes itself as a newspaper for cross scouts and those who want to become one or who feel connected to the cross scouts.
