War memorial in Étréchy

The war memorial in Étréchy , a French commune in the Essonne department in the Île-de-France region , was erected in 1919. The war memorial in front of the Hôtel de Ville on Place Charles de Gaulle commemorates the Étréchy military personnel who were killed in the First and Second World Wars .

While the villages in the neighborhood erected the same standardized war memorials, the municipality of Étréchy commissioned the sculptor Charles-Henri Pourquet (1877–1943) to create a statue of a French soldier with a rifle who had the imperial eagle of the German Empire under his feet . The names of the fallen are immortalized on the right and left of the rectangular base.
