The war memorial Altenplathow is a Grade II listed war memorial in Genthiner district Altenplathow in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in Altenplathow south of the Altenplathow village church at Altenplathower Straße 74 .

Design and history

The large stone cross was erected for those who fell in the Altenplathow community in the First World War . It is located on a two-tier base made of rubble stones .

The foot of the cross bears inscriptions on the east and west sides.

On the west side there is the inscription:
THE VALUIOUS HEROES
OF THE WORLD WAR
THE GRATEFUL COMMUNITY
ALTENPLATHOW

On the east side it says:
AND WE SHALL
ALSO LEAVE LIFE FOR
THE BROTHERS

A steel helmet faces south and swords crossed to the north.

In the local register of monuments , the war memorial is listed as a monument under registration number 094 86862 .
