War memorial Möckern

The war memorial Möckern of the World Wars is a listed war memorial in the town of Möckern in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located in the old town of Möckern in the churchyard northeast of the Evangelical St. Laurentius Church .

Design and history

The memorial was originally erected for the fallen of the First World War . It consists of a stele with an almost square floor plan, each of which has a guardian figure smaller than life at each of its four corners.

The names of the fallen soldiers from Möckern are incorporated in the lower area of the sides of the stele . Due to advanced weathering, however, some of the inscriptions were difficult to read. Therefore, transparent plastic plates were placed in front of the inscriptions on which the inscriptions are repeated. A memorial plaque was also put up to commemorate the Second World War .

In the local register of monuments , the war memorial is listed under registration number 094 71084 as a monument .
