The Obhausen war memorial is a listed war memorial in the municipality of Obhausen in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the war memorial is listed as a monument under registration number 094 16945 . The war memorial in Obhausen is located on Beichplatz in Obhausen. The war memorial consists of two memorial stones; one for the participants in the Franco-Prussian War and another for those who fell in the First and Second World Wars .

Franco-German War

The memorial stone for the participants in the Franco-German War is a stele donated by the Obhausen Warrior Association and inaugurated on October 1, 1871. The upper end of the stele forms an iron cross and is decorated with a victory wreath . All four sides of the stele bear an inscription. The inscription on the front reads Monument to Our Fallen Heroes . On another page you can read Dedicated by the Obhausen Warrior Association on October 1st, 1871 . On a third page you can see the name of the only fallen man with the place and date of death and why the memorial was inaugurated on October 1, 1871. Information on the regiment and death can be found on the last page of the stele.

World wars

Next to the memorial stone for the participants in the Franco-Prussian War is the memorial stone for those who fell in the world wars. Originally it was built for the fallen of the First World War and later also redesigned for the fallen of the Second World War. The memorial stone has the shape of a large coffin with an oak wreath and a soldier's helmet on it . Another wreath is on one side of the coffin. The names of the fallen are not on the memorial stone itself.
