The war memorial Schollene is a listed war memorial in Schollene in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the center of Schollene on Brückenstraße on a square-like extension at the confluence with August-Bebel-Straße .

Architecture and history

The design of the striking monument erected in 1924 by A. Gnorke from Rathenow on behalf of the local military association is reminiscent of a Roman round temple. A dome is supported by four pillars, which is crowned by a stone iron cross .

The 58 fallen from Schollene in the First World War are commemorated on a wall on the back . In 2015 the monument was restored by the Berlin stone restorer Torsten Weiß. The dome was temporarily removed for the renovation and some elements had to be rebuilt. The initiative for the renovation went back to the doctor Anton Schreiber, who worked in Schollene.

On the lower edge of the dome is the inscription: The living spirit of our dead.
