War memorial 1814 (Hanover)

The war memorial was a military award in the Kingdom of Hanover . The founder was King Ernst August .

The foundation date was May 11, 1841 and coincided with the foundation date of an award of the same name, the 1813 war memorial . The difference in the two decorations was the reason and the design of the medals. This award was for the volunteer soldiers in the Royal British-German Legion who entered before the peace treaty in Paris in 1814 , while the other award was for those who had joined the regular Hanoverian army.

The award could be given to military personnel of all ranks and also to foreigners. A return was not necessary after the death of the honoree.

Order decoration

The order decoration was made from the material of a captured artillery. The bronze medal bears the name of the founder in a cross under the royal crown on the obverse . The motto "BRAVE AND FAITHFUL" was surrounded by the laurel wreath on the reverse . In addition, the reference to the foundation reason "KÖNIGLICH DEUTSCHE LEGION".

Ribbon

The ribbon was a white ribbon with two yellow stripes.
