War role

The war scroll (Siglum 1QM ) is a 2.79 m long and 15-16 cm high leather scroll that was described in Hebrew around 30/50 AD . It contains a detailed description of the struggle between the "sons of light" and the "sons of darkness". The text depicts battle orders and military scenarios, but is probably meant more from the end of time . He uses elements of biblical texts on this topic ( Ez 38-39  EU , Dan 7-12  EU ).

The scroll was found in 1947 in Cave 1 near Qumran and is one of the Dead Sea Scrolls . Further fragments 4Q491 to 4Q497 were in cave 4 . The scroll is now in the Shrine of the Book , a building of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem .
