Kristóf Szabó

Kristóf Szabó (* 1968 in Budapest ) is a mixed media artist, director and choreographer.

Life

The director and choreographer has lived in Germany since 1980. He graduated from high school in Bavaria and completed his studies in theater, film and television studies, psychology and education at the University of Cologne in 1996 .

From 1996 to 2008 active in the field of visual arts (photo, video, performance) with solo exhibitions in Budapest, group exhibitions / actions in Bonn, Budapest, Esztergom (HU), Munich (TUMULKA gallery) and Liège. During this time he was u. a. Founding member of the neo-surrealist artist group ANTLOGONIS (1999), which he left after a year.

In addition to his translation work for u. a. For N. Helminger, Szabó published two works of fiction in the Hungarian language in 2003 and 2004 under the pseudonym Babó Titti Kristóf.

Since 2007 Kristóf Szabó has worked as a director and choreographer with his own productions across Europe from Cologne and Budapest. He is the founder and director of the FACE Mixed Media Ensemble in Cologne and, together with the regular ensemble and guest actors and dancers, performs cross-disciplinary pieces that make use of impressive mixes of technology and media. This is where the term mixed media was coined.

Since 2011 Szabó has been a member of the free Cologne dance center Barnescrossing - Freiraum für TanzPerformanceKunst Köln and since 2012 artistic director of the international festival of contemporary dance SoloDuo NRW + Friends.
