Krista Kajar debuted in the 1960s in various magazines, but her first collection of poems was not published until 1982. Previously, she had the science fiction -Schauspiel Suur Eksperiment ( 'The great experiment') published, which, however, despite positive reviews largely unnoticed remained rather was staged. After that, Kajar only published two more books, so that she did not become particularly well known as an author.
However, Krista Kajar was a major writer in the self-published almanacs that appeared in Estonia during the Soviet era. Here she published some poems under the pseudonym Raja Teele, a protagonist from Oskar Luts ' famous novel Spring (1912). In 1968 the author formulated the generation conflict in a poem that appeared in the Almanac Marm , which made the "parallelism of developments and moods on this side and beyond the Iron Curtain" clear:
- We
- are not to blame
- at our birth
- Our century
- to have
- we are not chosen.
- Self
- to have
- we didn't give each other names.
- Who got us
- at all
- asked here ?.
- Are our legacy
- the ideals of the fathers,
- our burden
- are your
- Exploits.
