The Kristianstad C4 Lions were a Swedish American football team from the city of Kristianstad in southern Sweden . The name C4 Lions is derived from Kristanstad's coat of arms , on which two lions can be seen, as well as the name C4, which refers to the founder of the city, the Danish King Christian IV .
The Lions were founded in 1986. With their first league participation in 1987 they managed to win the Swedish championship . This success could be repeated in 1988, 1989 and 1996. In addition, the Lions reached the runner-up in 1991 and 1994 and in every year since the introduction of the super series 1991 to 1997 at least the semi-finals. Kristianstad took part in the EFL twice, in 1990 they lost in the qualifying round to the Paris Castors 20:26 a.d. and in 1997 they failed in the quarter-finals to the Helsinki Roosters 23:36.
Then began the decline of the team, after the 1999 season they left the top division and went into the second division. Between 2005 and 2008, the Lions were only third class before advancing to the 2009 season. The Lions were also successful in the 2009 season and won Division I. In the promotion relegation to the super series, however, they were defeated by the STU Northside Bulls with 11:36. After the Kristianstad Predators were formed, the C4 Lions ran into problems. After failed merger talks, this led to the fact that they resigned from active business in 2010 for the first time since 1986. In 2011, the C4 Lions finally withdrew from play due to a lack of players.
In the nineties they were also very successful in the junior division, the U19 juniors won the championship in 1992, 1993 and 1998 and were runner-up in 1997, the U17 juniors became champions in 1995 and 1998.
