history
The musical performer, choreographer and trained dance teacher KrisTina Decker founded the Broadway Connection as a dance studio for children and young people in 2003, as well as the Broadway Dance Academy (now the Broadway Academy of Musical Theater) as a professional training for musical performers. The tradition of the Children's Musical Company , of which Decker was artistic director for many years, was continued in the Broadway Company as the first playing field for young, budding musical actors.
The origin of the name Broadway Connection lies in Decker's North American roots and her first major engagement as a musical actress in Cats in the USA
Dance studio
Here children and young people are regularly instructed in the dance styles of ballet, jazz, contemporary, steppe, acro, hip-hop, etc. The hobby classes are aimed at beginners and dancers who only want to dance 1–2 times a week. The competition classes consist of more intensive dance training in numerous styles several times a week and regularly take part in national and international dance championships. The competition classes also appear at events such as balls, city festivals, etc.
In the summer, Kristina's Broadway Connection offers multi-day workshops in many styles. As part of the WienXtra holiday game , children and young people have the opportunity to get to know dance and musicals.
Broadway Academy of Musical Theater
After a successful entrance examination, the students learn dance, singing and acting in a 4-year course in preparation for a musical career. The training is concluded with the stage final examination before the joint commission of the musical department.
Numerous Broadway Academy graduates are now working successfully as musical performers or actors on Austrian and international stages.
Broadway Company
The Broadway Company allows many company members to get a taste of the world of musicals every year when they work with professional artists to develop a musical and perform it in front of an audience. Like the big ones, the young company members must successfully pass the audition and re-call at the beginning.
