Kristina book
Kristina Buch (born January 18, 1983 ) is a German artist.
Life
Kristina Buch studied biology and Protestant theology before studying with Rosemarie Trockel at the Royal College of Art in London and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . In 2012 she was the youngest artist at dOCUMENTA (13) . In 2013 she completed her studies and was appointed by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev as an assistant professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . She works as a guest lecturer at the University of Design and Art (HGK) Basel, where she has been the first holder of the “Next Society” professorship since 2015.
Work
- Before the I was folded (2009) - Installation in which Buch has integrated the first clay sculpture ever made by chimpanzees. With this work, the discourse about Ape Culture and the creativity of other creatures was again and critically called into the discourse of contemporary art.
- The Lover (2012) - Installation and 'life-gesture' / 'Lebensgeste' over 100 days at dOCUMENTA (13).
- later, Goliath. And then started humming (2013) - sugar pictures, based on Malevitsch and Barnett Newman, which visitors can lick until they are gone
- untitled (holes) (2014) - A once-only concert in cooperation with Iko Birk.
- Some at times cast light (2015) - This installation was unveiled on April 26, 2015 in Bochum-Ehrenfeld ( ⊙ ). For this purpose a square was named after a fictional woman who has no biography and whose bust adorns the square permanently by a council resolution. The work is part of the "Detroit Project".
- Such prophecies we write on banana skins. (triangulation of criminal grace) (dt. We write Such prophecies on banana peels (triangulation criminal grace). ) (2015) - a two-channel video installation / soundscape, produced for the 14th Istanbul Biennial. The work suggests an endless explosion of a well-known art institution on one video channel and the complete detonation of Mount Everest on the second channel.
- It's normal that reality happens. (these games will fall apart) (2016) - Installation in which an abstract playing field through white marble playing field lines in Merano (South Tyrol) invites you to play unknown games and to reflect on drawing boundaries.
- EXECUTION SEMANTICS for a necessary criminal (2016) - Solo exhibition in the Kunsthalle Bremerhaven.
