history

Krommert was originally a Westphalian peasantry that stretched southeast of the church town of Rhede. The first documentary mention comes from the year 1150. Since the 19th century Krommert formed a rural community in the office of Rhede of the Borken district. On August 1, 1968, Krommert was merged with the other municipalities of the Rhede Office to form a new municipality of Rhede, which received city ​​rights in 1975 .
