Cryogens (physiology)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In physiology, endogenous cryogens are cytokines or hormones that act on thermoregulation in the sense of lowering the body's core temperature . A subgroup of them are endogenous antipyretics, which can lower the core body temperature only in the context of a fever reaction, i.e. limit a fever reaction . They include interleukin-10 , vasopressin , melanocyte-stimulating hormone, and glucocorticoids, as well as the pyrogen tumor necrosis factor under some conditions .
