Cryptophyte
Kryptophyte ( ancient Greek κρυπτός kryptós "hidden", φυτόν phyton "plant") is a name for a growth form of higher plants in which the organs of persistence (renewal buds) are hidden to better survive unfavorable seasons .
to form
There are three groups of cryptophytes:
- Helophytes ( marsh plants ) survive in the mud.
- Hydrophytes ( aquatic plants ) survive under water.
- Geophytes survive underground.
Since the geophytes represent the majority of all cryptophytes, the terms cryptophyte and geophyte are often used synonymously. Depending on the surviving organ, a distinction is made between onion , tuber or rhizome geophytes.
