Berlin Literature Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Berlin Literature Prize of the Prussian Sea Action Foundation was awarded every two years until 1998 together with the Johannes Bobrowski Medal at the Berlin Literary Colloquium . The literary prize was awarded to authors who have made a significant contribution to the development of contemporary German-language literature.

Since 2005, the award has been presented according to a new concept: the previous complete work of a German-speaking writer is recognized. Associated with the award is the appointment to a Heiner Müller visiting professorship for German-language poetics at the Peter Szondi Institute for General and Comparative Literature at the Free University of Berlin in the corresponding summer semester. The endowment is now 30,000 euros from the funds of the Prussian Sea Handling Foundation , which also bears the costs for the visiting professorship. (The name of the professorship goes back to Heiner Müller's widow .)
