Hugo Dittberner

Hugo Dittberner (born November 16, 1944 in Gieboldehausen ) is a German writer .

After graduating from high school, Dittberner studied German , history and philosophy at the University of Göttingen , where he received his doctorate in 1972 on Heinrich Mann's early novels . After a brief teaching activity at the University of Karlsruhe , he settled in Kalefeld as a freelance writer in 1976 .

Dittberner's everyday poetry is assigned to the New Subjectivity that emerged in the 1970s . In numerous poems and the realistic novels and stories, which are mainly set in the present and mostly reflect everyday life, he describes interpersonal relationships and problems of members of the 1968 generation .

Dittberner was a member of the Association of German Writers from 1974 to 2000 ; he is a member of the PEN Center Germany and the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz . He was a member of the jury for the Jeannette Schocken Prize (Bremerhaven) and the editorial team of Text + Criticism . In 2005 he was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit .
